What I Wish Someone Had Told Me to Put on My Baby Registry

Mom babywearing with Wind whimSi silicone clip holding baby blanket in place — hands-free and secure

When I was building my baby registry, this product didn't exist.

I was thorough.

I researched strollers for weeks. I compared monitors, read every article, added things I wasn't even sure I needed just in case.

But there was one problem I didn't know I had yet.

The blanket that would slip off the stroller every single walk.
The toy that would hit the ground every 90 seconds.
The nursing cover that wouldn't stay put no matter what I tried.

I couldn't have put a solution on my registry — because the right solution didn't exist yet.

So I made it.

The problem nobody warns you about

When you're building a registry, everyone focuses on the stroller itself.

Which makes sense. It's the biggest decision. The most researched. The most overwhelming.

But nobody talks about what happens after you start using it.

You're out on a walk. Your baby finally fell asleep. You've got a diaper bag on your shoulder and coffee going cold — and the blanket hits the ground. Again.

You're not doing anything wrong. The stroller just wasn't designed to hold everything in place.

And once you have a baby, you need it to.

"Just pick it up" is not a real answer

I know what it sounds like from the outside.

It's just a blanket. Just pick it up.

But when it's the fifth time in one walk, and your hands are full, and your baby is finally calm — it stops being a small thing.

It becomes the thing.

That constant low-grade friction that makes outings feel harder than they should.

I kept looking for clips that would actually work. Metal ones that pinched. Plastic ones that didn't hold. Chip clip knock-offs that weren't designed for a stroller at all.

Nothing was right.

So I designed something that was

After months of picking things up off the ground, I sat down and figured out what a stroller clip actually needed to be.

Soft enough that it wouldn't scratch a stroller frame or snap a baby's fingers.
Strong enough to hold a blanket through bumps and wind.
Beautiful enough that you'd actually want it on your stroller.

The result was whimSi clips — the first patent-pending, metal-free silicone stroller clip designed specifically for real-life use with kids.

No metal springs. No pinch points. No hard plastic edges.

Just a secure, flexible hold that works.

Why I wish this had been on my registry

Here's what I know now that I didn't know then:

The best registry items aren't just the big ones. They're the ones that solve a real, recurring problem — the ones you reach for every single day without thinking about it.

If whimSi clips had existed when I was pregnant, they would have been the first thing I added.

Not because they're trendy.

Because they would have made every walk easier from day one.

Why they make the perfect baby shower gift

Here's the thing about registries — you're building a list for two audiences.

Yourself. And the people who love you and want to give you something that actually helps.

whimSi clips land perfectly for both.

For you: You'll use them from the very first stroller walk. Not eventually. Immediately.

For gift-givers: At $29.95, it's the ideal baby shower price — not too small to feel like an afterthought, not so expensive it's a big ask. And when someone sees the Earth or Panda Paws designs, they get it instantly — this is a thoughtful, practical gift. Not just another plastic thing.

The designs matter too

This was important to me from the beginning.

whimSi clips come in two collections — the Elements Collection (Earth, Water, Wind, Fire) and the Animal Kingdom Collection (Froggy Feet, Panda Paws, Blue-Footed Booby) — each designed to be beautiful enough to put on your stroller and actually want people to notice.

My personal favorite is Earth. Warm, neutral, goes with everything.

But pick whatever feels like you. That was always the point.

How to add them to your registry

Whether you're on Babylist, Amazon, The Bump, or building your own list — whimSi clips work on any platform.

  1. Visit whimsiclips.com/collections/baby-registry-picks
  2. Choose your design (most parents end up with 2–3 sets)
  3. Copy the product URL and paste it into your registry under "Add from any store"

Done. The people who love you will know exactly what to give.

One more thing

If you're building your registry right now and feeling overwhelmed — that's normal.

There's a lot of gear. A lot of opinions. A lot of things that sound essential and turn out not to be.

The things worth adding are the ones that solve a real problem. Every single day.

I built this product because that problem was real, and nothing out there solved it.

Now it's the thing I wish every new parent had on their list.
